Q&A

Why is this method of exfoliating better for my skin? This Ayurveda-inspired cleansing method is gentle, and delivers beneficial enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants and other phytonutrients to your skin. These nutrients reach your skin in a potent and active form - since they are only activated when mixed with water - immediately before applying. Because it contains no harsh detergents, it does not strip away the body’s own protective oils. Like all the products in our Mokosh certified organic skin care range, it is free of preservatives and other synthetic ingredients, containing 100% certified organic botanicals.

How often should I exfoliate? The key to healthy skin is maintaining its barrier function. Your skin barrier works to keep moisture inside your skin and keep irritants out. If your barrier becomes compromised, your skin can become more sensitive and prone to irritation, breakouts, and extreme dryness.

Without regular exfoliating—dead skin cells, dirt, oil, pollution—can accumulate leaving your skin dull and lifeless. Regular exfoliating promotes healthy skin-cell turnover which is why it’s so good for your skin. How often you exfoliate depends on the type of exfoliator you use. The Mokosh Face Cleanser, Exfoliator and mask is extremely gentle and can be used daily. Other exfoliators are meant to be used once or twice a week. Be sure to read instructions thoroughly and listen to your skin. If your skin is irritated you are likely exfoliating too often.

How do you exfoliate sensitive skin? It can be frustrating when you have sensitive skin as the smallest thing can irritate it. Exfoliating is key for beautiful healthy skin but when it comes to sensitive skin you have to be extra careful. Be sure to use a light touch and not push on your skin. Listen to your skin and if it is getting irritated stop and reduce how often you exfoliate to once or twice a week.
