Where is the barley grass grown? Green Supreme has been growing barley grass in their fields in New Wilmington, PA since 1987. The barley leaves are cut when only a few inches tall and air dried to retain the enzymes and nutrients.

Is barley grass gluten free? Yes. Young barley grass (and wheat grass) is not the same as the grains (that contain gluten) found when the plant matures.

Green Supreme started in 1988 when Pennsylvania farmer James Biros noticed his mother was slowing down at the age of 87. Worried about her health, Jim gave his mother a green barley leaf product he had brought back from Japan. In no time, she was up and back at her favorite pastime, quilting bees.
When a drought in Asia threatened her supply of green barley leaves, a friend suggested he grow his own green barley in Pennsylvania's rich soil. With a degree in Agricultural Science, his suggestion turned into action and Jim had produced 40 acres of "green barley" shortly thereafter
