Is the scent strong? The Frankincense & Orange body cream smells incredible. It is an exotic blend of meditative frankincense and uplifting orange, giving a long-lasting, yet subtle, grounding fragrance. If you like unscented products, you might prefer Mokosh Pure Face & Body Cream, which is free from essential oils. The Pure Face & Body Cream can also be used as a base cream to which you can add your favorite essential oil blend.
Which body lotion is best for dry or very dry skin? Both the Frankincense & Orange body cream and Sesame & Frankincense Body Oil are incredible for dry skin. However, if your skin is extremely dry – you may prefer the richer Frankincense & Orange body cream, which has a base of super-moisturizing unrefined Shea Butter. If your skin is also sensitive (or you prefer unscented products), you might like Mokosh Pure Face & Body Cream best.
What is the difference between body cream and body lotion? Body creams are typically heavier than body lotions. They provide a better protective barrier on your skin, which helps reduce more moisture loss from your skin than lotion can. Skin feels softer, smoother longer. The downside is creams can feel a little greasier when you apply them and take a little longer to absorb completely.
Body lotions usually have water as the first ingredient. For this reason they are not as greasy and absorb more quickly. Lotion is not as effective and works best on skin that is not excessively dry.
Is the shea butter fair trade? Yes. Organic Shea Butter is a key ingredient in Mokosh Skincare products. They use unrefined shea butter that is Fair Trade certified, and produced by a cooperative of predominantly female workers. Fair Trade certification means workers are paid a fair price, have good working conditions, use sustainable environmental practices, and are also paid a Fair Trade premium which is used to fund environmental and community projects.
Mokosh is one of a handful of brands using unrefined shea butter that is extracted using traditional, non-chemical methods and sourced under Fair Trade certification. Shea trees take more than 40 years to mature, and live for around 200 years. Because of their slow lifecycle, there are no shea plantations which means no insecticides, herbicides or fertilizers are used in the production of shea butter. By supporting the shea butter industry, these trees will be protected, provide a living for local populations, and help protect the delicate savannah ecosystem
