Is this real jade? The term “jade roller” used by sellers is both confusing and a little misleading. Our research found virtually all of the rollers currently available are made with what is called “new jade” or serpentine jade. True jade is either nephrite (amphibole) and jadeite (pyroxene) while serpentine jade is from a different mineral family. While Serpentine jade is believed to have similar benefits to nephrite jade - it is not true jade. If a brand does not specifically name the type of crystal used – it is most likely made with serpentine jade. Serpentine jade is much cheaper than nephrite jade which makes it much more affordable. To date, we have not found a single roller made with nephrite jade.
How does a jade roller work? When rubbed on the skin, Jade Rollers create a facial massage which is believed to improve blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, reduces puffiness and under eye circles and enhances elasticity of the skin.
What is it made with? These rollers are made of Hsui Yen jade or serpentine jade.
Does your facial roller have to be jade? No. Any roller can help increase circulation and increase lymphatic drainage.
What is Serpentine Jade? Like nephrite jade, Serpentine is a beautiful natural crystal. In crystal healing it is considered to have powerful healing energy that works to create an energetic and protective shield around your body. It is also believed to have cleansing and detoxifying properties. Because serpentine jade it is much cheaper than nephrite jade it makes a very affordable roller with similar benefits to nephrite jade.
Should I keep it in the fridge? It is believed Jade rollers work better when they are cold. The Luna Nectar Metamorphic roller remains cool to the touch - but it will have an even greater soothing effect if refrigerated prior to using.
